Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Equality in Welsh Sport
Our vision is to create a thriving lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) sporting community within Wales, where individuals feel welcome, safe and free from discrimination.
We believe that everyone should be able to participate in, and enjoy sport, whoever they are and whatever their background and as such we commit to:
Encouraging and supporting current and future generations of fans, officials, volunteers, coaches, staff and participants from all communities to join the sporting family by:
1
Promoting positive relations within our sporting community, breaking down barriers and encouraging cohesion by supporting LGBT+ issues within our own and other sports.
2
Engaging with the LGBT+ community and breaking down barriers to participation by championing the benefits of our own and other sports.
3
Working on equality initiatives, including sexual orientation to raise awareness and increase understanding of LGBT+ issues in sport amongst fans, officials, volunteers, coaches, staff and participants.
4
Encouraging and sharing good practice within our own sport, other sports, education and employment.
5
Supporting and pro-actively contributing to the work of LGBT+ Sport Cymru. Feeding back on relevant policy, practice and initiatives relating to the equality and diversity agendas in our own sport or sport as a whole.
But most importantly:
We commit to taking a zero tolerance approach to homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in our own sport and other sports, whether in the stands, during competition or amongst officials, coaches, staff and volunteers.
The message is simple: HOMOPHOBIA, BIPHOBIA AND TRANSPHOBIA IN SPORT IS UNACCEPTABLE
